Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Pace is an Android app that helps you limit time spent on short-form video apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It is developed and maintained by the individual developer reachable at optinghost@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

We collect no personal data whatsoever. Pace operates entirely on your device.

The following information is generated and stored locally on your device only:

• Which apps you choose to monitor (package names you select)
• Your daily and session time limits for each app
• Usage time sampled by the foreground monitoring service
• Cooldown history and streak records
• Your app preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

3. Permissions we request

• Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Required to detect which app is in the foreground. We sample this every second to count your time. We do not log or store raw event streams, only accumulated per-app daily totals.
• Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to show the block overlay when you reach your limit.
• Post Notifications: Required to send you alerts when a limit is reached. Only used for limit notifications.
• Foreground Service: Required to keep the monitoring running while you use other apps. The service is controlled entirely by you via the in-app toggle.
• Receive Boot Completed: Optional. Used to restart the monitoring service after a device reboot, if you have not disabled monitoring.
• Battery Optimization Exemption: Requested during onboarding to prevent the OS from killing the monitoring service on aggressive OEM builds.

No permission is used for advertising, analytics, or data collection of any kind.

4. Third-party services

Pace does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or cloud services. There are no third-party SDKs in the app that collect user data.

5. Data storage

All data is stored locally in an Isar database on your device. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all data. There is no backup to any cloud service.

6. Children's privacy

Pace does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no features that target or are designed for children.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy in a material way (for example, if a future version introduces any data collection), we will update this page and change the effective date. The current policy will always be available at this URL.
